Birthdays For April 29th-May 1st + Arbor Day
If this is your birthday, congratulations! Here's a couple of country music artists that share this date with you. Duane Allen, born in Taylortown, Texas, in 1943. In 1966, he joins The Oak Ridge Boys, who successfully convert 11 years later from gospel music to country. Their version of "Elvira" sells 2 million copies, as they register more than 30 Top 10 hits through 1991, joining the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
Happy 73rd, Duane!
Also turning a year older today:
Singer/songwriter Michael Ray, born in Florida, in 1988. After winning the 2012 music competition "The Next," he signs with Atlantic, earning a hit with his 2015 debut "Kiss You In The Morning." He also co-writes the Big & Rich single "Run Away With You".
Happy 28th, Michael!
This Is Arbor Day!
This is a tree planter's holiday. Arbor Day has been around since 1872. It started in the state of Nebraska, which was very treeless in the 1800s.
This is a day to plant and dedicate a tree. By doing so, you will be helping nature and the environment. Estimates are, 18 million trees are planted each year on this date. That's good news for everyone.
