Eric Church Gives Shania Twain’s ‘No One Needs to Know’ New Life [Watch]
Eric Church paid tribute to the Canadian country queen Shania Twain at his Toronto, Ontario, Canada concert at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday (March 8). Church and his backup singer Joanna Cotten harmonized on Twain's "No One Needs to Know," give the song a new life and feel.
“No One Needs to Know” was the sixth single off Twain's sophomore album, The Woman in Me. Though not a classic, it did spend a week at the No. 1 spot in July of 1996 and was Twain's third consecutive No. 1 hit on country radio. "No One Needs to Know" was written by Twain and Mutt Lange and was also featured in the film Twister.
Relive the Most Badass Eric Church Moments Ever
"Am I dreaming or stupid / I think I've been hit by cupid / But no one needs to know right now / I met a tall, dark and handsome man / And I've been busy making big plans / But no one needs to know right now / I got my heart set, my feet wet / But he don't even know it yet / But no one needs to know right now," Church sings in the above video.
Cotten performs with Church solo at several moments in his nightly sets, making her more than just a backup singer, but true vocalist and soloist. She lends a hand to Church's performances of "Kill a Word," "That’s Damn Rock ‘n’ Roll" and "Over When It’s Over."
The country outlaw's headlining show in Canada was part of his ongoing Double Down Tour. He'll play two nights back to back in several cities across North America in support of his 2018 album, Desperate Man. The live show features two hours of hit songs and covers each night by Church and his band, like a recent rendition of Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice."
