Dr. Hector Gonzales, president of Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde and a 1992 graduate of Angelo State University, will deliver the commencement address during ASU’s fall graduation ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.

Angelo State University’s chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) national honor society inducted its fall 2016 class of 104 students during a special initiation ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Houston Harte University Center.

The Angelo State University Chorale and San Angelo Community Chorale will present their annual holiday concert on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 37 E. Beauregard Ave. in downtown San Angelo.

University Theatre at Angelo State University will present its holiday dinner theatre production of the literary classic “Little Women” beginning Thursday, Dec. 1, in the ASU Modular Theatre.

Angelo State University’s music program will host the ASU Trumpet Fest, featuring guest artists and student performances, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The Angelo State University Alumni Association will host its final Ram Jam pre-football game tailgate party of the season on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, 1620 University Ave. It is also part of ASU’s annual Military Appreciation Day.

Jamie Akin, Angelo State University’s executive director of development and alumni relations since 2012, has been promoted to vice president for development and alumni relations, effective immediately.

Andreas Chavez of Roca, Neb., and Gadiel McDonald of Veribest, both political science majors at Angelo State University, were honored at the 20th annual Eugene Scassa Mock Organization of American States (ESMOAS) Conference earlier this month at Texas State University in San Marcos.

Angelo State University’s Jazz Ensemble will present its annual fall concert on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the ASU Auditorium located in the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Ave. N.

Angelo State University has again been certified as a “StormReady University” by the National Weather Service, renewing the designation first earned by ASU in 2010.
