These classic rock icons prove they can still pack the house at the Expo Center of Taylor County. After a opening set from Lubbock’s CapRockers and a 30 minute intermission to reset the stage, ZZ Top opened with a hit from the Eliminator album “Got Me Under Pressure.” Then, it was hit after hit for almost one and a half hours.

I saw ZZ Top before during the Afterburner tour. At that concert, there was a laser light show and pyrotechnics. Last night’s show was much simpler with two large video screens showing clips from their various music videos on either side of Frank Beard’s percussion set. Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill both used wireless guitars, allowing them to move around freely on stage during the instrumental solos ZZ Top is known for.
