If you're on the road again to Austin this weekend to see Willie Nelson in concert, the venue holding the event says you better be vaccinated or test negative for COVID.

Whether the Germania Insurance Amphitheater can require vaccination proof or a negative COVID test is in question according to Texas law.

The venue's announcement did not clarify whether it or the artists were behind the new health protocols. The move comes as Austin grapples with rising coronavirus hospitalizations in the area. That's left live music venues to figure out how to increase safety measures right as touring shows come back after a long year on hold.
They risk violating a new state law that went into effect in June and prevents businesses from requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition for entry.

So, if this venue is breaking the law, can the state of Texas take away their liquor license? Should we assume they will not be selling liquor at the Outlaw Music Fest? I don't know how you can't have liquor at an "outlaw" music festival.

The Germania Insurance Amphitheater isn't the only Austin venue requiring attendees to take COVID precautions this weekend. Another venue is requiring masks for a concert being held on Friday.

I don't know if this is civility or arrogance on the part of these venues, but they are defying the laws imposed by the state of Texas and the freedom the governor wants for Texans to choose whether they want to wear a mask or not.
