Miranda Lambert Lights Up the ACM Awards Stage With ‘Keeper of the Flame’
The acclaimed country singer hit the stage wearing a black shirt with red accents, strumming an acoustic guitar and delivering a fiery performance of the fourth single from her The Weight of These Wings — literally. Images of giant flames lit up the screen behind her and her band as she performed, building the song to a rockin' crescendo that had the audience cheering in approval at the end.
The performance was somewhat reminiscent of Lambert's star-making performance at the CMA Awards in 2005, when the then-22-year-old aspiring star became an overnight sensation with a fiery performance of "Kerosene." Older and wiser now, Lambert still retains the unique passion that has always set her apart from her country music contemporaries.
Earlier in the evening, Lambert set a new ACM Awards record when she won Song of the Year honors for "Tin Man," another song from The Weight of These Wings. The win marked her 30th career ACM Awards win, placing her one ahead of Brooks & Dunn. She broke that record again later in the night, winning her 31st ACM for when she took home Female Vocalist of the Year.
Lambert was also nominated for Video of the Year in the 2018 ACM Awards, and she'll hit the road in 2018 first on a joint tour with Little Big Town in July. The Bandwagon Tour is set to launch on July 12 in Charlotte, N.C.
