Loretta Lynn Cancels Only Planned Concert This Year
Fans of Loretta Lynn who were hoping to catch her at the only planned concert she has to date in 2018 will find themselves sorely disappointed at the news the country legend has canceled the show.
Lynn, 85, was scheduled to perform at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Okla. in May. “Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Loretta Lynn date, scheduled May 17, 2018, in Tulsa has been canceled. Refunds are available at point of purchase,” a statement from Lynn’s manager read.
The reason for the cancellation is not clear. Lynn did fall and break her hip in a fall at her Tennessee home earlier this month, which suggests she may still be recovering from that accident. Lynn's daughter, Patsy, noted the fall may have been a result of her mother playing with a new puppy."We don't really know if she was chasing after the puppy or what, but she slid and fractured her hip," Patsy says.
Last year, after a stroke in May, the country legend cleared her calendar and pushed back an album slated for last August to 2018. By all accounts she had been recovering well after the stroke, even performing at the Tennessee Motorcycle and Music Revival in September.
Lynn is universally loved as one of country music's all-time great singers with pull-no-punches hits like "The Pill," "Fist City" and "You Ain't Woman Enough." The Country Music Hall of Famer has been beset by health troubles over the last five years, but in each case she's returned to the stage and recording studio.
