Josh Turner Speaks Out After Fatal Bus Crash: ‘We Lost a Beloved Member of Our Team’
Josh Turner is still processing the shock he's feeling after a tour bus carrying his road crew crashed on Sept. 18, leaving seven injured and his sound engineer, David Turner, dead. He turned to social media on Tuesday (Sept. 24) to speak out about the crash for the first time.
"As I try to write this I don’t know what to say," Turner writes on Facebook. "It’s a struggle to put into words the devastation and grief that our road family is trying to process. We lost a beloved member of our team, David Turner. He was like a brother to so many in this industry and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Please continue to keep David’s family in your prayers."
Turner also gave an update on his other crew members and their injuries.

"All of our crew suffered significant injuries and many have long roads to recovery. I would ask that you give them privacy during this time," he writes, concluding by giving fans the chance to financially help those who suffered injury.
"Many of you have asked where you can support the guys and their families. My management company has created a GoFundMe page for our road family for anyone wishing to contribute," Turner adds. "Your prayers have been felt. Please keep praying."
David Turner, 64, was not related to Josh Turner. The crew were traveling from a show in nearby Paso Robles, Calif., and were just 20 minutes into the trip when the bus veered off the road and crashed through a barbed-wire fence before driving 200 yards and off a 50-foot cliff. Turner and his band members were on a different bus at the time of the accident.
Authorities have not yet established what caused the bus to leave the roadway. Local news station KSBY notes that the California Highway Patrol is investigating. Turner has canceled all of his remaining live dates for September.
