Mitchell Tenpenny Hopes to Do a Christmas Album Next Year
Mitchell Tenpenny is prepping for the release of his new studio album, Telling All My Secrets, on Friday (Dec. 14), but he's thinking about Christmas, too. The Tennessee native tells Taste of Country Nights that a holiday project may come next year.
"Next year I’m going to be pushing everybody to let me do at least a (Christmas) EP because I love doing that stuff and I’ve always wanted to do my own Christmas record," he spills.
Tenpenny got a jump on it last month when he released a studio cover of the classic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas":
From the sound of it, Christmas has always been a favorite time of year for the rising country star.
"I love Christmas music," Tenpenny explains. "I just love Christmas. It just makes me feel this peace of mind. I don't know how to explain it but sometimes I go to Gatlinburg in the summer just to feel Christmassy for a second."
Currently out on his Telling All My Secrets Album Release Tour, Tenpenny is still relishing in the success of his first number one single "Drunk Me."
"Of course, this is something I’ve always dreamed of, so I want to thank everyone involved," Tenpenny remarked at a recent show. "And the fans, for making this our first gold record. This is just as much y'all's as it is mine."
After the album drops, Tenpenny will release a new single, "Alcohol You Later," to country radio in January. His new album also includes the heart-wrenching "Walk Like Him," which tells the story of missing his father, who died three years ago.
