Meet San Angelo’s Oldest Continuous Business

It's safe to say, this business has stood the test of time. At 134 years, it is the oldest privately owned company in town. 

Yes, it's San Angelo Abstract Company.

According to, Delila Sudduph, Senior Escrow Officer, it was established back in 1882. Their primary services include closing real estate transactions and issuing title policies. Besides  San Angelo and Tom Green County, it also serves 12 other counties in West Texas.

The company has been owned since 1985, by Texas State Representative, Drew Darby.

As you walk into lobby area  you may notice this large safe on display. The contents of this safe haven't been disturbed for several years, due to the fact that the combination has been lost and no one can remember it, however, we think you'll agree, it makes a nice conversation piece.

There is also and extensive collection of maps from years gone by, including this one, from 1910 of Tom Green County.

When you park outside, you'll see the newest addition to the business.

She's only been there since May of this year, but hopefully, will welcome all to the business for many years to come.
