Man Arrested after Morning Pursuit in Northwest San Angelo
Just after 10:30 a.m. this morning, San Angelo Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver colored, 2005 Toyota Camry in the 1800 block of Martin Street but the driver failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The vehicle’s driver evaded throughout the surrounding neighborhood, primarily through the alleyways. The pursuit was eventually terminated due to unsafe speeds. A short time later, a citizen flagged Officers down and alerted them to the vehicles whereabouts; which Officers located abandoned and crashed into a fence in the north alley of the 2300 block of Webster Street.
While searching the area for the driver, Officers came upon a subject who matched the suspect’s description. When the subject observed the Police presence, he ran and a foot pursuit ensued.
The pursuit ended when Police took the suspect into custody in the 1800 block of North Street. The suspect, identified as Michael J. Trammell, 44, of San Angelo, was transported to Shannon Medical Center for evaluation after he complained of shortness of breath, presumably from the foot pursuit. One officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries he sustained in the pursuit.
Trammell was transported to the Tom Green County Jail after his release from medical care. Subsequent to the field investigation, Trammell was charged with Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle, Evading Arrest Detention on Foot, State Jail Felony Possession of Controlled Substance PG1, No Seatbelt, and an outstanding warrant. In addition to the charges, Trammell will receive a Citation for Duty to Stop and Leave Information upon Striking Fixed Object.
