Strolling the Lilies

Presented by the San Angelo Garden Club. Cuisine prepared by San Angelo's top chefs paired with sensational wines, light jazz performed by Kevin Brown, viewing of the International Waterlily Collection, and a silent auction. Tickets $75 each. Available at Peasant Village Restaurant, Secret Vineyard Day Spa & Salon, Larry Jolley Real Estate, Q's Printing & Design, and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.

Archeology Fair

Fort Concho on Sept. 24 hosts an event all can dig – the yearly Archeology Fair.

The free event will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the barracks courtyard at the fort, 630 S. Oakes St.

Sponsored by the Concho Valley Archeological Society, the fair offers guests a chance to learn about the many cultures that lived in the Concho Valley long ago. Hands-on activities include digging for “Clues in the Dirt,” metal detecting, flint-knapping, prehistoric food preparation, making baskets and medicine bags, archery and atlatl-throwing.

Annual celebration of the International Waterlily Collection. Free admission. Featuring a talk by curator Ken Landon, one of the foremost waterlily experts in the world, vendor booths and kids art demonstrations.
