Angelo State University’s Master of Education (M.Ed.) in guidance and counseling degree program has been ranked one of the “Top 25 Most Affordable Accredited Master’s in School Counseling Online” programs in the U.S. for 2015 by BestCounselingDegrees.

Overall, ASU’s program was ranked No. 10 on the list and is one of two Texas schools to be ranked in the top 25. According to BestCounselingDegrees, only programs at regionally accredited schools were eligible, and the rankings were based on the average graduate student tuition and fees. Dr. Lesley Casarez, ASU program manager, said,

At ASU, we always strive to provide a quality education that is also affordable. We currently have over 300 students in the guidance and counseling program who bring a wealth of experiences and distinction to ASU, and we hope this trend continues in the future. The feedback that we are getting from former students is that they are successful in their new careers because of the quality of this program.

ASU’s regional accreditation is through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The M.Ed. in guidance and counseling program is also accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The M.Ed. in guidance and counseling program requires 36 credit hours and can be completed totally online in 24 months. It prepares students to seek certification as a Texas school counselor.
