Angelo State Rams Head Mile High to the Division II Quarterfinals on Saturday
The Angelo State Ram football team is riding a seven game winning streak which has taken them all the way to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals.
The Rams will face off with the top-seeded Colorado School of Mines on Saturday at Marv Kay Stadium in Golden, Colorado. Kick off is set for 1 pm San Angelo time tomorrow.
Angelo State came into the playoffs on a five game winning streak and they've added two more wins to the streak in the Division II playoffs. 11-2 overall on the season, the Rams beat Nebraska-Kearney 20-7 last Saturday at LeGrande Stadium in San Angelo and they beat Minnesota-Duluth 48-14 two weeks ago also at LeGrande.
Meanwhile, the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers come into the game on a winning streak of their own. They beat Bemidji State 55-6 at home to up their streak to 4 games. Overall, the Orediggers are 11-1 on the season.
On Thursday, six Rams were named to the Division II CCA All-Super Region 4 team.
Sophomore offensive tackle Willis Patrick and sophomore running back Nathaniel Omayebu III were named first team offense. On the other side of the ball, senior inside linebacker Hunter Kyle was named first team defense while senior defensive tackle G'Karri McCoy, sophomore outside linebacker Daron Allman and senior safety Leddy French II were named second team defense.
