Angelo State University’s online Master of Science in criminal justice degree program has been ranked one of the nation’s “25 Best Value Accelerated Online Master’s in Criminal Justice Degrees” for 2017 by the education resource guide.


ASU’s program ranked No. 8 on the list. Only programs at regionally accredited, nonprofit public and private colleges and universities were eligible for the rankings. All degree programs on the list can be completed in faster than average time and are ranked by affordability according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics’ (NCES) College Navigator. 

According to, “Criminal justice is a demanding field, and often doesn’t give professionals the time necessary to earn a degree through traditional means. The accelerated online master’s in criminal justice degrees ranked here provide flexible, convenient, quality solutions for professionals seeking to advance their career through education.” 

Additionally, ASU has been ranked No. 9 among the “25 Most Affordable Online Colleges for a Master’s in Criminal Justice” by the SR Education Group, which publishes the education resource guide. Schools on this list were also ranked by affordability based on data from the NCES College Navigator. 

ASU’s online M.S. in criminal justice can be completed in just 18 months. Students in the program take courses like criminal justice theory, legal aspects of the criminal justice system, critical analysis of justice administration, and research methods in security studies. Courses are delivered in both 8-week and 16-week formats.
