Angelo State University’s Multicultural Center will host a Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the lobby of the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

The celebration recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It will focus on the Dominican Republic and will feature a demonstration of folkloric dancing by Claudia Garcia, promoter of Danza Folklorica. Activities will include food, music and crafts related to the Dominican culture.

Since 1968, during the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson, Americans have observed National Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
