Saturday, February 1, 2014, San Angelo Police Officer T. Dietz observed a Ford passenger car make an improper right turn prompting Officer Dietz to initiate a traffic stop at 19th St. and Pecan St.  The driver of the Ford passenger car refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The pursuit continued north throughout the Lake View area and onto Armstrong St. with speeds reaching 80 mph.   The pursuit continued north past the city limits and into Tom Green County on Texas Hwy 208 past FM 2105 and Red Creek Rd.    As the pursuit reached a wooded area on Texas Hwy 208, the driver of the Ford passenger car left the roadway, crashed through a fence, and abandoned the vehicle to continue fleeing on foot.

A perimeter was established with the assistance of Tom Green County Sherriff Deputies and DPS Troopers.  SAPD K9 Officer H. Miller and his canine “Thor” were called to the scene to assist.  Shortly after the search began, a 16 year old juvenile was located.   The search continued as the juvenile was believed to be the passenger of the Ford passenger car.   The search continued approximately one mile when “Thor” indicated the suspect was hiding in a storage shed.  The officers entered the shed, located the driver, and made the arrest without further incident.

The driver was identified as Randy Sutton of San Angelo.  Sutton has been charged with Evading Arrest w/Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention, and outstanding county warrants for Criminal Mischief (x2) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The juvenile passenger was arrested for Evading Detention and was transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.

Burglar Arrested after Police Recognize Suspect from Surveillance Video

A  San Angelo man is behind bars for burglarizing a building thanks to officers who recognized him from video surveillance footage early this morning.

At approximately 7:32 a.m. Monday, San Angelo Police Patrol Officers J. Polnick and L. Cortinas responded to a burglary call at the Medical Arts Pharmacy building located at 2102 Pecos St.  While on scene, Officer Polnick and Cortinas reviewed video surveillance footage from the incident getting a description of both the suspect and his vehicle, a silver 4 door Oldsmobile Alero.

Officers Polnick and Cortinas then checked the surrounding area and located a vehicle matching the one from the surveillance video in the parking lot of the San Angelo Lodge.  While Officers Polnick and Cortinas were attempting to obtain owner information on the vehicle, a male approached them about their interest in the vehicle.   Officers Polnick and Cortinas immediately recognized him as the suspect in the video.   After further investigation at the Pharmacy and the Lodge, the male suspect was taken into custody at 11:00 am.

The suspect identified as Nickolas Jones was charged with Burglary of a Building and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.

The property stolen was valued at approximately $15,000.00 and was described as assorted controlled substances.

Technicians from the Crime Scene Investigations Section were instrumental in the collection of physical evidence linking the suspects to the crime scene. Detective C. Moore is the lead investigator assigned to the case.

No one was injured during the chase.
