Meghan Linsey Vies for Top 12 Spot With OneRepublic Cover on ‘The Voice’ [Watch]
Meghan Linsey aimed for a chance at a Top 12 slot on NBC's 'The Voice' competition during the Live Playoffs round on April 6. Her stellar rendition of OneRepublic's "Love Runs Out" garnered her rave reviews from the show's coaches.
The country singer's original coach, Pharrell Williams, offered her the highest praise. "You have to know how proud I am of you," he shared. "You're living proof you should not give up on your dream." Linsey ended up on Team Blake during the Battle Rounds, but it's obvious her original coach is still proud of her.
“I know some people are questioning if I deserve to be here. I’ve heard a comment or two that are like, ‘Oh, she had her shot,’ or, ‘Her career is over.’ I’m 29, and I moved to town 11 years ago, and I’ve worked so hard and don’t believe in giving up on a dream,” Linsey notes during an interview with Billboard. “I’m grateful that The Voice does allow people who have had careers to come on the show like this and reintroduce themselves, giving an opportunity for a second chance. It’s interesting with all the contestants: We’re all the underdog in our own ways."
Linsey’s take on “Love Runs Out” is available for download on iTunes. The Top 12 will be announced during Wednesday's (April 8) episode, which will air at 8PM ET on NBC.
