Kelly Clarkson Responds to ‘Fat Shaming’ Tweets
It’s difficult to not care what other people think, especially when you’re a celebrity living in the age of live-tweeting. But Kelly Clarkson takes it in stride.
Upon learning that British TV personality and writer for The Sun Katie Hopkins had tweeted hurtful comments about Clarkson's weight, the crossover superstar was surprised to hear the statements even existed.
"I don't have a clue what you're talking about. Someone tweeted something about me?” Clarkson responded to Heat magazine when approached with the tweet.
Though there were several messaged posted by Hopkins shaming Clarkson regarding her weight, the one that started it all was posted in response to Clarkson's appearance on the Graham Norton Show.
Rather than getting upset when faced with the attacks, Clarkson laughed it off.
"That's because she doesn't know me. I'm awesome! It doesn't bother me. It's a free world. Say what you will,” she quips.
Since the artist’s rise to fame through American Idol in 2002, Clarkson has come a long way and is now happily married and a happy new mom. It seems like she has more important things to worry about these days.
"I've just never cared what people think. It's more if I'm happy and I'm confident and feeling good, that's always been my thing. And more so now, since having a family — I don't seek out any other acceptance,” she concludes.
Clarkson’s attitude is rare and admirable and one we can all strive to emulate when we are faced with similar remarks. You go, girl.
