1960-Elvis Presley is discharged from the Army.

1963-A plane crash in Camden, Tennessee, claims the lives of Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins and pilot Randy Hughes as they return to Nashville from a charity concert in Kansas City.

1973-The band, Alabama, using the stage name, Wildcountry, makes their debut at The Bowery in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The band remains regulars at the club for the next seven years.

1976-Johnny Cash records his hit "One Piece At A Time" in Hendersonville, Tennessee, at the House of Cash.

2007-George Strait racks up eight nominations to top the ballot in the Academy of Country Music Awards, unveiled at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame. Brooks & Dunn collects seven, and Ronnie Dunn garners another on his own.

2009-Taylor Swift makes her TV acting debut, stabbed in the heart with scissors on CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation".
