Website Makes No Mention of Texas in Top 10 BBQ Cities
Last week, the website Chef's Pencil (yeah I never heard of it either) came out with a list of the top BBQ cities in the country. Here's what they determined were the top 10.
- New Orleans, LA
- Oklahoma City, OK
- Charlotte, NC
- Wichita, KS
- Virginia Beach, VA
- Columbus, OH
- Seattle, WA
- St. Louis, MO
- Miami, FL
- Newark, NJ
Whoa! Where are the Texas cities in that top 10? Well there are none as you can see. Two Texas cities did place in the website's top 20 with El Paso at 12 and Austin at 18. No let's talk about this list.
New Orleans is number one. I don't doubt that there are good BBQ joints in the Big Easy, but when I think New Orleans I think Cajun food and not necessarily BBQ.
We have Columbus, Ohio at six. Ohio has better BBQ than Texas? I don't buy it. And I have lived in both places.
Seattle, Washington at number seven? I know that place is known for rain and coffee. I don't think either mix well with BBQ.
Miami, Florida places number nine. South Beach just doesn't vibe BBQ to me. Maybe that's just me.
Newark, New Jersey at number 10? Uh, no.
And where the hell is Kansas City on this list? Most everyone knows KC is know for its BBQ, but Kansas City didn't even make the top 20! This list has zero credibility!
And then there is this. There is an update to this story. Since this list was published last week, the link to the list has been removed.
So what do you think of this list? What about the BBQ out here in San Angelo and West Texas. Should we be somewhere on the list of best BBQ cities in the country? How about in the state of Texas? Tell us on Facebook or chat with us on our station app.
