The Texas DPS Will Be Watching Through The Holidays
Lots of people will be hitting the road for the Christmas and New Year's celebrations and the Texas Department of Public Safety will be out in force doing their best to keep everyone safe during their travels.
If you're traveling, not just during the holidays, but any and every time...you should always be careful and safe as well as follow the laws that are in place to help keep you safe. it can cost you in fines, jail time and even your life if you don't obey the law, stay alert, and drive safely.
Even here in the Concho Valley the holidays change the normal day to day driving that we always have to be careful about anyway. But during the Holidays we have a lot of drivers who are not familiar with San Angelo and can make traffic mistakes because they don't know the layout of our town.
Add to that, especially during the New Year's celebration, a lot of drivers who tend to go a little overboard with drinking during the festivities and then decide to drive. If this happens to a friend of yours, stop them, take their keys and do whatever you have to do to keep them and others safe. They may be a little upset at first, but once they sober up, they will thank you for it! A DWI would ruin a celebration for anybody. Just ask anyone who has had a DWI or a DUI.
Finally, use a little common sense like not texting while driving, not drinking and driving and wearing your seatbelt. These aren't just suggestions...these are the law!
Be aware that the DPS will increase enforcement from Dec. 23rd through Jan. 2nd. For more information, click here.
Drive safely! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
