Tenille Townes: Miranda Lambert’s Tour Is a Lesson in Supporting Fellow Artists

As she prepares to embark on Miranda Lambert's 2019 Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour on Friday (Sept. 13), rising artist Tenille Townes is looking back to the first time Lambert ever took her out on tour, in 2018, on the Bandwagon Tour. That trek was Townes' first major tour, and the experience included a major growth spurt for the young artist in terms of being a live performer and spending time on the road.

That wasn't all, though: Townes points out that one of the most important lessons she learned during the experience came from watching Lambert interact with another tourmate, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild.

"[I] firsthand got to watch the way that she and Karen are really there for each other and lifting each other up the entire time," Townes points out. "It's a genuine sort of friendship, and Miranda carries herself in such an authentic, real way, always -- from the art and her music to hanging out backstage."

Lambert is known for her support of her fellow female artists, and that's apparent in the lineup the singer has chosen for her 2019 tour. In addition to Townes, the 2019 Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour includes Caylee Hammack, Ashley McBryde, Elle King, Maren Morris and the Pistol Annies.

More than just supporting other women, though, Lambert is simply a role model for how to be a great friend on the road. "She's remarkable. And I love having a front row seat to watch and learn from that," Townes adds.

Of course, the singer will be taking the opportunity to watch Lambert's performances as a fan, too. "It's a dream to get to be on the road with Miranda, for sure, and I can't wait to sing at the top of my lungs to all the songs in those sets," she goes on to say.
