Taylor Swift gets back to basics in a newly released acoustic performance on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series.

The country-turned-pop superstar demonstrates that she's still in touch with her roots as an acoustic singer-songwriter in the intimate performance.

"I'm Taylor," she says simply in the video above, adding, "Welcome to my Tiny Desk Concert."

Swift begins her set with "The Man," from her current album, Lover. The song addresses gender double standards in a cutting, but humorous way, and she follows it up by moving to the piano for a bare-bones, emotionally affecting rendition of Lover's title track.

The singer takes up the guitar again for her third song, "Death by a Thousand Cuts," another standout track from Lover. Most Tiny Desk Concerts consist of three songs, but Swift wrapped her set with a real treat for longtime fans, throwing in a fan favorite, "All Too Well," from her 2012 album Red.

According to Instagram, Swift was a wonderful Tiny Desk Concert guest. Morgan Noelle Smith, who is a video producer for NPR Music, gushed about the experience of hosting the star:

"We have a lot of people who come to perform at the desk, but it is SO humbling to see someone as famous, as huge, as ICONIC as Taylor Swift just come in, sit behind the desk, and play her music the same way it was written … just her on a guitar and at the piano," she writes to caption a photo of Swift's performance.

"Thank you, [Taylor Swift] for the best day!" Smith adds. "I would be lying if I said I didn’t shed a few happy tears."
