Poe’s Back In Washington To “Fight For Texas”
HOUSTON (AP) — Texas Congressman Ted Poe says his cancer is in remission.
The conservative Republican from Houston announced Thursday that he is in remission from leukemia, which he was diagnosed with in July.
The 68-year-old Poe says he will continue being treated at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He will also receive treatment in Washington, D.C.
Poe said in a statement his "fight is not yet over."
"After a challenging six months, I am grateful to be able to be here in Washington doing what I love to do: fight for Texas," he said.
The former prosecutor and ex-judge represents District 2. Poe has served in the U.S. House since 2005.
