Morgan Wallen Has No Regrets About Losing ‘The Voice’
It has been five years since Morgan Wallen made his appearance on NBC's hit series The Voice, and the "Whiskey Glasses" singer is opening up like never before about his experience on the show.
Wallen's mom is the one who first signed him up for the singing competition, and at first Wallen didn't know what the show was—as he told People, "I didn’t even know what The Voice was...That whole experience kind of kick-started me a little bit."
During his time on the show, Wallen was first on R&B singer Usher's team, before Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine stole him. The singer was eventually eliminated during the Playoffs round. However, Wallen does not have any regrets about his elimination from the show.
"I’m thankful for that time. I’m thankful for how it all turned out,” he says. “And honestly, I’m thankful that I didn’t win because it gave me a chance to take a couple years after that show and really figure out who I was as an artist and get the right team around me. When I got there, I had no clue what I was doing."
After The Voice, Wallen then signed with a label where his star began to rise. His debut single hit the Top 40 on the country charts. However, it was his follow-up single "Up Down" with Florida Georgia Line that propelled him into superstar status. The song became Wallen's first No. 1 single. Then Wallen released his single biggest hit to date: "Whiskey Glasses" which topped the Country Charts and cracked the top 20 on Billboard's all-genre charts.
Wallen's followup single to "Whiskey Glasses" is called "Chasin' You" and it is available to download and stream. He is also currently working on his second album and is on tour with fellow country star Luke Combs. Dates and tickets are available here.
