Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance during the 2019 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night (Oct. 10), joining pop star Shawn Mendes for a duet.

Cyrus performed Mendes' hit "In My Blood" along with the pop star. The song began with Mendes performing solo at his piano, but after the first verse and chorus, he welcomed Cyrus to the main stage and joined her there.

Mendes was a first time nominee at this year's show, nominated for "In My Blood" for Song of the Year as well as Best Pop Vocal Album for his self-titled album.

Mendes and Cyrus previously performed "Islands in the Stream" together on Friday night (Feb. 8) at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala honoring her godmother Dolly Parton.

Cyrus also performed with an all-star lineup to tribute her godmother Dolly Parton once again soon after her Mendes duet at the show. Cyrus performed "Jolene" with her Aunt Dolly, and Maren Morris joined them for "After The Gold Rush." Finally, Little Big Town, Katy Perry, and Kacey Musgraves joined them to end things off epically with a cover of "9 to 5."

Cyrus hit the red carpet earlier with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and mother, Tish Cyrus. Cyrus had customized heels with stilettos that had her initials "M" and "C" engraved into them. Her husband, Liam Hemsworth, was unable to attend the 2019 Grammy Awards because he is currently in the hospital.
