The stars aligned at the 2019 Grammy Awards to pay homage to a country music legend. Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris and Little Big Town were among a cross-genre coalition of performers in a musical tribute to Dolly Parton. The country icon herself also appeared onstage, to share some of the music from her latest project, the soundtrack to the Netflix film Dumplin'.

The tribute launched with a powerful team-up of Musgraves, Katy Perry and Parton for "Here You Come Again," which Parton released as a single in 1977. The No. 1 country track was also a pop crossover hit and was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female; the album of the same name won Best Country Vocal Performance, Female.

The performance also featured Parton's goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, in a duet with the icon for Parton's 1974 hit "Jolene," after which the pair was joined by Morris for "After the Gold Rush," written by Neil Young in 1970 and recorded by Parton in 1995. Morris and Cyrus left the stage, the pop star telling Parton, "You're the best," as she departed.

Parton was then joined onstage by Little Big Town to perform "Red Shoes," written by Parton for the 2018 Netflix film Dumplin'. LBT and Parton were rejoined by Cyrus, Musgraves, Perry, Morris for a grand finale in "9 to 5," the 1980 hit song written and recorded by Parton for her first big screen appearance in a movie of the same name.

Parton is the 2019 MusiCares Person of the Year, the first country artist to win the honor. She received her trophy, which comes in recognition of her philanthropic efforts throughout her lengthy career, during a star-studded gala on Friday night (Feb. 8). Parton has not performed at the Grammy Awards since 2001.
