Kyle Park Gets Me Thinking About Comedies
So, Kyle Park will be in Christoval at Cooper's BBQ Live tomorrow and just the other day he posed an interesting question on Twitter.
Now KP got some good responses from the holiday classic Christmas Vacation to Airplane! to Fletch.
He even got a smart ass response when someone said Titanic. Hardy-har-har.
So, why don't we go through some of the responses and see what Kyle's followers had to say.
Easily one of the best Christmas comedies out there. This movie was the third Vacation movie of the 80s involving Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold and the adventures of the Griswold family. This scene cracks me up and it features a young Johnny Galecki.
Spies Like Us
Underrated! Man, I cannot believe someone mentioned this one. I had not seen it in years. More Chevy Chase here as the story revolves around Chase and Dan Aykroyd as decoy undercover American spies. I do not know why but I always remember this scene and thought it was funny as a kid.
I guess we are seeing a theme here. Here is more Chevy Chase. This time as the titular character. I think this is his best performance. I read where he was given the freedom to ad lib a lot of his lines. Here is an example.
Dumb & Dumber
If Chevy Chase was the go-to comedy star in the 80s, then that role was filled by Jim Carrey in the 90s. Underrated here is Jeff Daniels' performance who is not really known for comedic roles, but he complements Carrey well in this movie.
I think we are saving the best for last in my opinion here. Leslie Nielson steals the show with his deadpan humor. Before Airplane!, Nielson was a serious actor, but following this film he had a second career as a comedy actor.
