Justin Moore Shares Reflective New ‘Jesus and Jack Daniels’ [LISTEN]
Justin Moore has shared "Jesus and Jack Daniels," an introspective, mid-tempo ballad off of his forthcoming album, Late Nights and Longnecks. The new song looks back at the lessons he learned from his parents, both about being virtuous and about blowing off a little steam. Press play above to listen to the track.
"Mama loved Jesus, daddy loved Jack Daniels / She was red letter heaven, he was old number 7," Moore sings in the chorus. "Between the two of 'em, wasn't nothing that they couldn't handle / Mama loved Jesus, daddy loved Jack Daniels."
The country star goes on to reflect that, as an adult, he finds himself somewhere in the middle of these two extremes, taking lessons from both his parents about how best to live life. "He hated how she never had no fun / She hated how he had too much / I got a little bit from both of them / A little bible and a little buzz," Moore sings.
Late Nights and Longnecks is due out on April 26, and will be Moore's fifth studio album, following the 2016 project Kinda Don't Care. The singer has previously released the first single from the new album, "The Ones That Didn't Make it Back Home," which is an ode to the young soldiers whose lives are cut short by war.
"Jesus and Jack Daniels" is the fourth track on the new album. Moore co-wrote the song alongside Paul DiGiovanni, Chase McGill and Jeremy Stover -- the same team of writers that produced "The Ones That Didn't Make it Back Home."
