West Texas Counseling & Guidance center opened its doors in 1976 as Pastoral Care and Counseling of San Angelo and in 1984 changed its name to Samaritan Counseling, and serves San Angelo and the surrounding area.  The center is a nonprofit, community based counseling agency committed to meeting the mental health needs of everyone seeking help, ages 4 and up.
The center offers counseling to couples, families, and individuals from age 4 and up.  There are 7 counselors at the center who are all state licensed.  WTCG has a Licensed Clinical Social Worker on staff who can accept Medicare for payment if needed.  Three psychologists are also contracted to do full psychological testing for many types of issues including ADHD.  WTCG offers services such as premarital counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, anger management, substance abuse, depression, and even PTSD just to name a few.

West Texas Counseling & Guidance operates primarily on private donations, grant awards, and fundraising events.  The WTCG was awarded a matching grant from the Abell-Hanger Foundation for $15,000 in October 2012 and the match must be accomplished by May 2013.  WTCG needs $7500 to complete the match at this time.  If you are looking for a place to give a year end gift, your gift would then be matched by the grant.  Please feel free to contact them for more information at 325-944-2561 or email terrih@sanangelocounseling.org.
