There is no coming between a Texan and his Whataburger, but almost everywhere else in the country, it's Chic-fil-A.

Well, almost everywhere else anyway. A recent survey revealed that Chic-fil-A had the highest share of search in 27 out of the 50 U.S. states. Yes, Whataburger still rules Texas.

Most Searched Fast Food Restaurants

No, this is not a battle of best tasting fast food restaurants, nor is it a battle of the most popular in each state. It's simply the results of each state's most Googled fast food joints. So in some ways, it is about who's most popular online.

My Telescope looked at which fast food chains had the highest share of search in each state, and it wasn't really even close. Chic-fil-A was tops overall with 27 out of 50 states. Whataburger scored 5 states, including the home state of Texas along with New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Alabama.

Chic-fil-A pretty much dominated the rest of the country outside of some of the regional favorites like Whataburger, Culvers, and White Castle. Even Raising Canes had a pretty good showing.

Whataburger vs Chic-fil-A

Just for fun, I Googled a hypothetical matchup between the two, and wouldn't you know it - Comparability had some interesting results as far as what employees had to say about working at each franchise. Overall, Chic-fil-A had higher scores in most of the categories.

As for taste between the two, well, you know, depends on if you're craving a burger or some chicken. Here's my take on it.

Selection - Whataburgher. There's lots to choose from on the menu and I like to try different things.

Drive-thru - Chic-fil-A. They've got it down to a science. Whataburger makes every order fresh so it takes some time, but when I see the line is wrapped around the parking lot, I keep drivin'.

Taste - It's not even close. Whataburger all the way!

I'm not sure if you were expecting anything different here, but like I said, there's no coming between a Texan and his Whataburger. The rest of the country can have their Chic-fil-A.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!
