‘Cats’ Trailer: They Really Made a ‘Cats’ Movie
Man they weren’t kidding about the “digital fur technology.” Look at all the digital fur technology! Look at all the Cats!
Here it is, ahead of schedule; the first trailer for Cats. The Cats look like ... cat-type people? Sort of like the costumes from the old Broadway show it’s based on? But also with more digital fur technology? I’ll be honest with you: I do not know how to process these images, directed by Tom Hooper, and based on the famous musical. It’s Cats! They’re cats! The sets are gigantic to make the actors look cat-sized.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
Cats stars James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and introduces Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward in her feature film debut. Featuring Lloyd Webber’s iconic music and a world-class cast of dancers under the guidance of Tony-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In the Heights), the film reimagines the musical for a new generation with spectacular production design, state-of-the-art technology, and dance styles ranging from classical ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to jazz, street dance to tap.
