A big salute to all of our listeners celebrating on this August 29th is coming up, but first let's check out some Country Music history from this date.

1927- Jimmy C. Newman is born in High Point, Louisiana.  He is one of the first Cajun artists to have commercial success in country music.  He scores over 10 top 10 hits between 1954 and 1966 and becomes a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

1952- Don Schlitz, a song writer, is born in Durham, North Carolina.  He writes many hit songs including "The Gambler", "Forever And Ever Amen", and "When You Say Nothing At All".

1966- Singer and song writer, Shawn Camp is born in Little Rock, Arkansas.  He pens such hit songs as, "River Of Love" for George Strait and "Two Pina Coladas" for Garth Brooks.

1981- Ronnie Milsap, takes "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me" to the #1 spot in Billboard.

2011- Luke Bryan's, "I Don't Want This Night To End", is released to country radio.
