Astros Get Springer Back for Series vs Twins
George Springer hasn't played a game since July 2. Prior to that he had 13 home runs and 29 RBIs. The Astros have continued to win without Springer and look to be even better with the boost Springer provides back in this lineup.
Springer will make the start in RF with Carlos Gomez in CF and Colby Rasmus in LF.
The Astros dropped two straight to Seattle for their first losing home series since the end of May. They haven't lost three in a row at home since a four-game slide May 4 - 12.
Even though the Astros are in the lead in their division, this series against the Twins could very well save them the wildcard in the end if the Angels or Rangers catch them in the division race.
Collin McHugh (14-7, 3.92 ERA) was 2-2 in August while making five starts while posting a 1.89 ERA. He will try to continue that success against Mike Pelfry (6-8, 3.85) and the Twins.
The Astros continue the series sending Lance McCullers (5-5, 3.21 ERA) to the mound against Ervin Santana (3-4, 5.40 ERA). McCullers just another talented young player on this Astros roster trying to continue a great rookie year.
The third game of the weekend features Houston ace Dallas Keuchel (16-6, 2.24 ERA) who looks to continue his Cy Young campaign against Twins Rookie Tyler Duffey (2-1, 4.56 ERA).
