Angelo State University’s Wind Ensemble will present a free public concert titled “Night on Fire” on Monday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Auditorium located inside the Mayer Administration Building at 2601 W. Ave. N.

Under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Alvis, ASU director of bands and assistant professor of music, the Wind Ensemble will perform “In This Broad Earth” by Steven Bryant, “Melodious Thunk” by David Biedenbender, “Bandancing” by Jack Stamp, and “Exultate” by Samuel Hazo. The ensemble will also present “Night on Fire” by John Mackey, conducted by Trent Shuey, ASU assistant director of bands. 

The concert will also feature two soloists. Dr. Jeff Womack, associate professor of music, will perform “Oboe Variations on a Theme by Glinka” by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Dr. John Irish, professor of music, will perform the first movement of Johan Neruda’s “Trumpet Concerto.”

The concert is also part of the Wind Ensemble’s recruiting/performance tour that will include performances March 6-8 at San Angelo Central, Wall, Eldorado, Sonora, McCamey, Early, Brownwood and Ballinger high schools.
