Angelo State University honored its 2017 Outstanding Graduate Students during the annual Graduate Research Symposium and Awards Ceremony on April 28 in the Houston Harte University Center.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of this year’s top graduate students by Dr. Susan Keith, dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Research. Honorees each received a certificate of recognition.

The Outstanding Graduate Students for the College of Arts and Humanities, listed by their hometown and major, are Meghan Pace of San Angelo, communication; Jean Hase of San Angelo, English; William Baynard of Charlotte, N.C., criminal justice; Mike Alvarez of New Braunfels, homeland security; Fred Courtney of Woodbridge, Va., intelligence, security studies and analysis; and Briana Martinez of San Angelo, security studies. 

The College of Business honoree is Joshua Glaze of San Angelo, business administration. 

Honorees for the College of Education are Patrick McCullough of San Angelo, curriculum and instruction-advanced instructor; Stephanie Wiemers of San Angelo, educational administration; Lori Mosley of Midland, guidance and counseling; and Nadia Khedairy of Plano, student development and leadership in higher education. 

Archer College of Health and Human Services honorees are Robert Sport of San Angelo, coaching, sport, recreation and fitness administration; Albert Padilla of San Antonio, family nurse practitioner; Lauren Holt of Austin, nurse educator; Alyssa Parisette-Sparks of Encinitas, Calif., applied psychology; and Chelsea Dickens of San Angelo, counseling psychology. 

Honorees for the College of Science and Engineering are Kye Burris of Poteet, animal science; and Mary Jones of Chester, Md., biology. ASU graduate students who presented research posters during the Graduate Research Symposium were also recognized.
