Tony Bennett 90 Years Young And Just Getting Started
It seems like Tony Bennett has been around forever. Now at 90, he's celebrating with a party in the Rainbow Room at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
His career in music spans 65 years. Some of his accomplishments include 19 Grammy Awards, also being named a Kennedy Center Honoree and a NEA Jazz Master. Plus, he served our country proudly during WWII.
He doesn't appear to be slowing down either. His plans include a couple of projects near and dear to his heart.
He and Lady Gaga, plan do record a second album together. Their first, in 2014, "Cheek To Cheek", sold over a million and earned a Grammy Award. Look for the new one next year.
Coming out November, 15th, Tony will publish a new memoir, "Just Getting Started", co-written with NPR Weekend Edition host Scott Simon. The book will focus on his encounters and relationships with all kinds celebrities ranging from Frank Sinatra, Martin Luther King, Jr., and even Amy Winehouse.
Tony, even has a connection to country music. In the early 1950s, one of his biggest hits was a recording of the Hank Williams song, "Cold, Cold Heart."
