There are several locally owned nurseries in the San Angelo area that are off the beaten path. The People/Plant Connection is offering a chance to hear the owners talk about their expertise and give a personal tour of their nursery. This is the final of the “Talk & Tour” series.

This Saturday is the third and final in the Talk & Tour Series will be presented by Steve Lewis, owner of Ornamental Natives.

Steve will show the benefits of using Texas native plants in your landscape as accent plants and to replace some plants you may have lost in the drought. Texas natives are drought tolerant and add color and interesting textures to your garden and landscape.

After his talk, there will be a caravan to his nursery in Mertzon where he will give everyone a personal tour and answer any questions.

This seminar will be at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, in their studio in the breezeway on 1 Love Street. The seminar begins at 9:00 a.m. Refreshments and door prizes. Cost is $10 per person. Call to reserve your space: 325-656-3104. Shopping is encouraged but not expected.
PPC members get a discount at Native Ornamental Nursery. Memberships will be available at the seminar. Free giant pumpkin and sunflower seeds will also be available for anyone who would like to enter the Pumpkin and Sunflower contests.

Proceeds from these seminars go toward building the Children’s Adventure Garden under construction and scheduled to open this month. For information about The People/Plant Connection go to our website: www.peopleplantconnection.org.
