Hurricane Harvey literally hit home for Texas native RaeLynn. The 22-year-old singer is from Baytown, Texas, which is just outside of Houston. Her hometown saw mass devastation as a result of the Category 4 storm (and subsequent days of rain and flooding), and RaeLynn is eager to get her boots wet and help her people.

She tells Taste of Country Nights that Celebration of Life, her family’s church, is opening its doors to those seeking refuge from the storm’s aftermath. The church is currently hosting 150 people, many of whom have lost everything.

“Everybody surrounding the church got affected, but the church didn’t, so it’s just a really amazing thing that we can house people that are in need right now,” RaeLynn says.

RaeLynn now a link in her Instagram bio where fans can make a donation that will directly impact the church’s refugees. The singer is traveling to her hometown next week to bring supplies and lend a hand in any way possible.

“That’s the way I’m giving back is by helping my family’s church and really giving back to my community in Baytown because that’s where I grew up and why I’m passionate about just helping,” she says. “So I’m really excited about getting down there next week and just doing anything that I can and I’m just so thankful that our church didn’t get affected.”

Additionally, RaeLynn is scheduled to play a Hurricane Harvey relief benefit show on Sept. 6 at Floore’s in San Antonio, Texas. Also on the bill: Joe Nichols, Kevin Fowler and Jerrod Niemann.

The “Lonely Call” singer encourages fans to also donate to the Red Cross, but notes that even if you can’t give money, one can always donate unwanted clothing or collect canned food. “All I can say is somebody in Texas is having it worse than you, and it’s just showing any way that you can give love back will help,” she says. “Right now, we’re just praying for healing and praying for people to just be able to rebuild as quick as they can and just for people’s hearts. This is just a very hard time and some people only had the shirt on their back when they left their house, so it’s just really important to figure out any way you can help.”

George Strait, Granger Smith and Josh Abbott Band are just a few of the other Texas country stars who have vowed to help those in need following Hurricane Harvey.
