New Scam in San Angelo

Several citizens have called to report they have been contacted by individuals claiming to be a representative from the “County Attorney’s Office”. The scammers are demanding that people pay a sum of money to avoid being arrested on a warrant. The scammers will ask the victim to send a money order via Western Union to a location other than the County Attorney’s office.
The Tom Green County Attorney’s Office does not conduct business this way- They do not contact people by telephone nor do they do business with Western Union, credit card companies, or collection agencies. Contact is made via mail or in person and true payments can be made to the County Attorney’s office in person or by mail.
