Love and Theft Donating Song Proceeds Following Manchester Tragedy

Love and Theft are the latest artists to send love to those affected by the bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, this week. The country duo posted a heartfelt acoustic performance of their song “Love Wins” to Facebook, explaining that they will donate the proceeds from the song to charity.

“Our hearts go out to those affected by the Manchester tragedy,” they write alongside the video. Seated on the steps of the Parthenon in Nashville, Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson perform their new song “Love Wins,” which showcases their striking harmonies.

“In light of the recent tragedy in Manchester we wanted to give back in some way,” Liles says. “For us, the best way we know how is with our music.”

The ballad is poignant in the face of tragedy, with lyrics like: “Love is patient, love is kind. Love don’t care what’s wrong or right, it doesn’t end, it doesn’t boast.”

The song has been leaving a mark on fans — Liles admits it’s unlike anything he’s witnessed in his career thus far.

“To see the life and energy it has taken in that short time … is unlike anything I’ve been a part of in my 11 years here in Nashville,” he says. “We are excited to put out ‘Love Wins’ because of how much it means to us and our families and because we hope this song will have a lasting impact on the hearts of everyone who hears it.”

Twenty-two people were killed when a suicide bomber set off a blast outside Grande’s show in England on May 23, leaving 60 more injured.
