When I was growing up in Kermit, we had 2 drive-in movies for many years. One was The Lariat, and the other was The Yellowjacket.

The Lariat was torn down in the mid 1960's and The Yellowjacket kept showing movies for another 10 years or so before it finally closed down.

I have a ton of great memories from the drive in movies, and was wondering if there are any close to San Angelo. There are, and here's a list:

Town & Country Drive-in in Abilene is located at 2902 Vogel Street at Mockingbird, near Interstate 20. This drive in opened in 1956 and was billed as "The Biggest Drive-In Theatre in Texas"! For more information: http://www.towncountrydrivein.com/ or call 325-677-9899.

Big Sky Drive-In Theater, 5906 W. Highway 80, Midland. Look for their marquee on the North side of Highway 80 East. Go to bigskytheatre.com or call 432-617-3001.

The Sky Vue Drive-In, South Big Spring Highway, in Lamesa.  Sky Vue has been operating since 1948 is open Friday-Sunday from March through December. They are also open on Wednesdays during the summer.
For more information go to http://skyvuelamesa.com/ or call 806-872-7004.

There are several other drive-ins in Lubbock, Amarillo, near the Ft. Worth-Dallas area and in South Texas. These are the ones that are close and could make for a fun night at the movies under the stars! Maybe I'll see you at one of these drive-ins soon!
