Brent Goes On Trial For Manslaughter Charges
DALLAS (AP) — Former Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent has arrived at a Dallas courthouse for the start of his trial on intoxication manslaughter charges in the death of a friend and former teammate.
Jury selection is expected to begin Monday.
Prosecutors say Brent was drunk when he flipped his Mercedes on a highway in December 2012, killing his friend Jerry Brown, who was his college teammate and a former Cowboys practice squad player. Police say Brent's blood-alcohol content after the crash was more than twice the legal limit.
Brent could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison if convicted of intoxication manslaughter.
