Blake Shelton turned to social media on Wednesday (Jan. 16) to vent about a published article that he wasn't happy with, ending with a warning to his fans not to trust what they read online.

Billboard reported exclusively on Wednesday that Shelton and George Strait had both signed with Paradigm Talent Agency in Nashville to represent their touring interests. Shelton shared the article via Twitter shortly after, writing, "When did fact checking go out of style? My god.. One phone [call] would tell them this isn’t true. Please be careful about what you believe on the internet, everybody. Unreal."

Billboard is one of the most prestigious music publications in the world. The magazine subsequently amended its story slightly.

"Both Shelton and Strait tour with AEG-affiliated promoter Louis Messina, who works with a number of artists represented by the talent agency, including Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes," the article now clarifies. "Paradigm will handle Shelton and Strait's personal appearances, fairs and festival bookings, corporate events and casinos, while Messina Touring Group will continue to book and promote Shelton's arena tour."

Shelton has been dogged by a wide array of tabloid stories over the years, first regarding the state of his marriage to Miranda Lambert, and then in the reporting of his relationship with Gwen Stefani. He filed a lawsuit against In Touch Weekly in 2015, claiming defamation over an article that the tabloid printed saying that his drinking had helped contribute to his divorce from Lambert and that he was out of control and headed for rehab.

The singer and the publication reached an out-of-court settlement in 2017, the terms of which have not been made public.
