For years, school history books have told us that Christopher Columbus discovered America, in 1492.  What most of those books failed to mention was the fact that Native Americans had lived there for years.  Those same books, also gave little credit to Nordic explorers, who had ventured down the east coast of Canada thousands of years before.

The truth is, Columbus did discover the New World for Europeans.  Those were the folks that believed, until then, that the world was flat and ended somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.

Columbus was Italian, but at the time of his voyage, Italy was broke and didn't have the money to finance his trip.  So, Chris reached out to, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain for funding.

Now that you know the facts, we hope you can better appreciate Columbus Day!
