Best wishes to all who are celebrating on this day!  Eighteen years ago, the movie "Sling Blade" opened in theaters across America.  The movie featured Dwight Yoakam in a prominent role, along with Billy Bob Thornton, Robert Duvall and John Ritter, son of Tex Ritter.  It also included Emmylou Harris with a performance of the song, "Shenandoah".  It's Thanksgiving Day!

The first Thanksgiving, in 1621, was celebrated between the Indians and the Pilgrims.  It was a huge feast and lasted for 3 days.  It featured a wide variety of animals and fowl, as well as fruits and vegetables from the fall harvest.  It was also a time of prayer, as they thanked God for a good crop.

By the way, potatoes were not a part of that first Thanksgiving, because Irish immigrants had not yet brought them to North America.

Today, most of us will enjoy Turkey with "all the trimmings".  Tradition has it that most families say a prayer of thanks before they partake in the big meal.  In many homes, each member will mention something they are thankful for.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y!!
