German chemist, Robert Wilhelm Eberhard von Bunsen, the man who invented this piece of equipment was born on this date in 1811.

If you ever studied chemistry in high school, chances are you used one of these. It's a long hollow tube in which gas and air are combined to create a hot flame. the burner is used in a wide range of scientific and lab projects. Now, you know!
