It's National Frozen Custard Day!

We have a pair of ice cream vendor brothers to thank for this special day.  Elton and Archie Kohr, invented this dessert on Coney Island, New York in 1919.  They found by adding egg yolks to ice cream it gave it a smoother texture and helped it to stay colder longer.  Business was great, in fact, they sold 18, 640 cones on the very first weekend they offered it, at their stand on the boardwalk.

In 1933, frozen custard got a big boost in popularity, when it was served at a stand in Chicago, during the World's Fair.

Maybe it's time you tried this delicious and refreshing cold dessert, that's similar to ice cream but made with eggs in addition to cream and sugar.  You can enjoy it in a cone or just by itself, in a dish.  Believe me, it tastes so good on a hot summer day.  Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Have yourself a great National Frozen Custard Day!
