If this is your day to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, congratulations!  58 years ago today, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis posed for an iconic photo at the Sun recording studio in Memphis.  After taking the photo, the foursome proceed into an impromptu jam session, known as "The Million Dollar Quartet".   It's National Dice Day!

Dice have been around for thousands of years.  The oldest known dice were excavated at the Burnt City, an archaeological site in south-eastern Iran, and were determined to be a part of a 5000-year old backgammon set.

The first dice were made from the talus (ankle bone) of hoofed animals.  Now a days you'll find them made from wood, plastics, ivory and other materials.

There are many games that involve dice either as a part of or just by themselves.

Craps is a popular dice game, where wagers are made on the total value of the throw of the dice.

They are also used in board games such as, Monopoly and backgammon, to decide how far players can move on a board.

If you do plan to celebrate this special day, Happy Rollin'.

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y!!!
